Jay Guy joined Penske Racing in December of 2009 as crew chief for the No. 12 Penske Dodge team, working with driver Brad Keselowski. With their similarities and their shared commitment to the team, Penske Racing hopes Guy and Keselowski will form a winning combination for the Penske Dodge squad for years to come.

Though both Guy and Keselowski bring youth to their respective positions, each has proven that they can compete and excel at the highest level of racing.

Growing up in Lancaster, Penn., Guy was always intrigued by automobiles. He was fascinated by the different components that help race cars reach their maximum performance. Guy knew at an early age his calling was to become a crew chief in the booming sport of NASCAR. His dream was to join a legendary team like Penske Racing, where his talents could shine. Through hard work and dedication, Guy has earned that opportunity.

Long considered one of the best mechanics in the garage, Guy first stepped atop a pit box late in the 2003 season with the No. 10 NASCAR Cup Series team and veteran driver Johnny Benson. Guy served as a crew chief for Fitz-Bradshaw Racing in the 2004 Nationwide Series before he teamed up with the ST Motorsports Nationwide Series team in 2005. The following season, Guy worked as the crew chief on the No. 47 car for the Wood Brothers and JTG Racing in the Nationwide Series before he joined the Furniture Row Racing Cup Series squad in 2007.

Success came quickly for Guy on the restrictor-plate tracks as he helped lead the Furniture Row team and driver Joe Nemechek to the pole in the spring race at Talladega in 2008. In 2009, Guy directed the team through a limited Cup Series schedule in an entry driven by 2008 Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year Regan Smith. The team produced top-15 finishes at Talladega (started sixth, finished 15th) and Daytona (started 43rd, finished 12th).

Guy believes he shares his work ethic with his racing role model, former Penske Racing driver Dave Marcis. A longtime NASCAR competitor whose driving career spanned 35 seasons, Marcis worked hard for everything he earned in the sport and he is still one of the most respected men in racing.

"Everything is here for us to get the job done," said Guy. "Brad (Keselowski) is a great young talent and the resources and personnel here at Penske Racing are second to none. We are anxious to build on the history of the No. 12 Dodge and lay a foundation for sustained success in the coming years."

Guy, a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and his wife Carrie live in Kannapolis, N.C., with their daughter Ansley.
